ROADMOVIE/Death Valley

Roadmovie/Death Valley (video stills)

Video projection; QuickTime from hard-drive source. Duration 48 hours

Roadmovie/Death Valley
The digital movie follows along 200 km of road through Death Valley by using the Google streetview tool. The direction and location broadly takes inspiration from journeys made during the gold rush in the late 19th century, often difficult and hazardous undertakings, and the spirit to explore new lands and environments.

The duration of the video work is adjusted to the time scale of a human walking the same distance –
48 hours – and in this way try to merge different layers of experiences together and deny the non-linear experience of the internet with its near instant reward of arrival at the destination, to create a reference of internet experience and human time scale.
